One of my biggest bottlenecks is my marketing and distribution strategy. I become a limp noodle whenever I think about sharing my work, so I generally don’t strategize about my work. I associate marketing and self-promotion with “hustling”, which I associate with intense pain. I don’t know about you, but I like living my life not feeling like I’m being flayed alive, so that’s why I don’t ever promote my work.
The ability to get to Yes or No ASAP is underappreciated. When I did corporate work, 30% win rate was the sweet spot b/c the contracts were massive. As a freelancer, I'm fine with a much lower win rate. People, listen to Val & get rejected more! :)
I tend to strongly vibe against the word hustle... however I LOVE this post and everything in it (like, except that word, but who cares, the concept is great!) The idea of how can I relentlessly relax AND relentlessly hustle works the kinks out of my issues with hustling, since the stress, rush, and pressure part of the word gets nixed. In my head I might have to call it "The Chill Operator" or "The Zen Striver" or having a "Tenacious Chill" lol, but anyway, thanks for this!
Seven Commandments of The Chill Hustler
I like this. I still hate self promotion. Luckily people started sharing my book
I love this!! Self proclaimed marketing non-lovee here😂 But it's sooo necessary

This is a very good idea. Thank you for sharing, Val! Paul Millerd got me here by the way.
